Queen Sofia of Spain Visited Albay Province

Though I am a wedding photographer by profession,   I need not stay in my comfort-zone forever and so I decided to join the MPCI group to cover this once in a lifetime activity in the Province of Albay. Today we are very fortunate to have been visited by Her Majesty, Queen Sofia of Spain.

The Queen's Entourage arrived in Legazpi Airport around 9:00 am, July 4, 2012 and welcomed by the Local Government Officials with the energetic Gov. Jose 'Joey' Sarte Salceda. The very tensed but festive mood in the airport was lightened by the Magayon Dancers and the Queen was greeted by two school children who also offered her bouquet of flowers.

Excitement grew intensely even more when the entourage proceed to unveil the monument dedicated to the first Spanish Mayor of Legazpi, the statue of Jose Maria Penaranda, after which the Queen proceeded to Camalig, Albay and unveils the marker at the Camalig North Central School building.

A child Baton Leader salutes the Queen as she approached the drum and bugle corp of the Camalig North Central School... one of the many recipients of Spanish Projects in the Bicol Region.  I was truly proud to witness how this young boy salutes the Queen as she tried to get closer to the group.  Ang galing ng Bicolano, ang galing ng Pinoy...

Reflections:
Covering a high profile event could be tedious considering the schedules (call time), endless waiting time, location and security risks that it entails but getting priceless images is enough reward for a passionate photographer like me...
